SSCW in cooperation with the British Council and BFM Tallinn University invites you to the Media Literacy Summer School to be held on 17-19 August 2022 in Narva-Jõesuu in Meresuu Spa Hotel.
The main objectives of the Summer School are to further develop media literacy skills by encouraging the audience/community representatives to be media co-creators, to think critically about media content and their own media habits, and to interact and collaborate with national and local media, creating an informal network to ensure community and media exchange to feel free to express their opinions and quotes on important topics in a safe environment.
The summer school is aimed at young people, community members and other target audiences and experts who are interested in modern media and the issues facing our society (presenting objective/truthful news, analysing propaganda material about the COVID 19 virus pandemic situation, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its impact on the Estonian and Russian speaking communities). Participating in the programme together create an independent perspective.
The main themes of the summer school are:
– Disinformation, propaganda, privacy, information security and media culture.
– Media criticism (critical thinking, source analysis, analysis of media and information.
– Media production (blogging, writing articles, videos, creating digital media).
– Behavioural media habits (ability to identify and correct patterns of addictive behaviour).
– Democratic values (participation and freedom of speech)
Let’s look at upcoming trends together, talk about changes, foster collaboration, focus on empowering vulnerable groups and the third sector, develop essential media skills and much more!
